Hisae/ヒサ絵 - It's OK To Forget/忘れてもいいよ
(Official Music Video)

I made this music video for "It's OK To Forget/忘れてもいいよ" in February, 2020. This beautiful song, by talented artist Hisae, is about dementia and how it affects those around it.

My grandma suffered from dementia too. Everytime I flew to Japan to see her, I was surprised by how much smaller, thinner and weaker she had become and how she had forgot me. So making this music video actually helped me to face those experiences. Things that affected both me and my diminished grandma, who no longer recognised me; and the strong woman she once was, who I respected and always admired in my heart. Making any MV is always time consuming and hard work, but it healed me. A lot.

My grandma passed away the day after I finished this work. She was 93 years old. It might be too selfish to say, but I feel she was waiting for me to finish.

Hisae and I hope anyone who has loved ones with dementia listen this music can heal themselves.
